On September 5, 2013, the Georgian Energy Development Fund signed a consulting agreement with Landsvirkjun Power and Verkís of Iceland for an expertise study on an existing FEED design of Tsablari hydroelectric project on the Tsablaristskali river in Western Georgia.  The work involves a site visit, study of existing exploration and design documents and preparation of expertise report, followed by discussion sessions with the designer and GEDF.  Finally, a review of final design and cost estimate is to be provided.

The Tsablari HPP is foreseen with headworks and sand basin at elevation 693 m followed by short diversion pipeline and 5-6 km long headrace tunnel to a surface powerhouse at elevation 388 m. Planned capacity is 14,6 MW, design flow 6 m3/s and annual generation is estimated 63,2 GWh.
